This rubber cobalt salt adhesive is directly added to the compound and mixed in an internal mixer to make it evenly dispersed. When the rubber is vulcanized, it produces high-strength adhesion with the metal skeleton (such as steel cord). However, this directly added rubber cobalt salt adhesive is usually only suitable for large rubber products industry, such as steel radial tire, steel reinforced conveyor belt, etc. For a large number of small and medium-sized rubber products production enterprises, such as rubber shock absorbers, rubber fenders, bearings, seals, rubber hoses, tapes, rubber rollers and other rubber products industries. In addition, this rubber cobalt salt adhesive is applied to the bonding between galvanized and brass plated metal skeleton and rubber.

Adhesive cobalt salt of organic acid is a special adhesive for rubber and brass plated or galvanized steel cord, which can be used alone to manufacture high-performance steel radial tires and high load steel hoses. At present, cobalt salts widely used at home and abroad include cobalt naphthenate and cobalt borate.

It is generally believed that no matter what kind of organic cobalt products, cobalt ions bind the role of promotion. Before the vulcanization of rubber containing cobalt salt, there is only simple contact between rubber and brass coating, but once the rubber is vulcanized, new material layers will be formed between rubber and brass coating, especially metal sulfide layers, namely immeasurable cuprous sulfide layer CuxS and zinc sulfide layer ZnS.

The bonding structure layer of rubber cobalt salt adhesive is only cuprous sulfide CuxS, and only cuprous sulfide CuxS has the activity of continuous reaction, which can diffuse to the interface layer, and form a chemical bond in the form of cuprous sulfide vulcanized rubber cux-s-sy-rub through sulfur bridge, that is, the bonding reaction between rubber and brass coating.

There is no cobalt atom or carboxyl structure in the bonding bond between rubber and brass coating. The divalent cobalt ion in the organic cobalt salt only plays a role in the formation of active cuprous sulfide, that is, the organic cobalt salt promotes the bonding. At vulcanization temperature, adhesion reaction and vulcanization reaction need to be coordinated.
